5 Exciting Summer Date Ideas

Make A Date With Friends, Family, or a Loved One

Summer, the season of adventures and of getting itchy feet. No matter if you want to try something with your other half, a friend or family member, here are our 5 top places to go – and let’s face it, they’re so good that you can absolutely do them on your own as well.

1. Open-air cinema

Some of our favourite choices are The Luna Cinema, which will be screening classics and new releases all over the UK, and the Rooftop Film Club at the Bussey Building in Peckham and at Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch. On top of that, Film4 Summer Screen will be running at Somerset House between 10-23 August. The fantastic choices of pictures include Moonlight and Donnie Darko.

2. Exercise together

Are you both into exercise and don't want to splash out? Go out for a weekend cycle in one of London's gorgeous parks or go on a tour of the sights. It's easy to get sucked into the everyday of big city life and we all need reminding of the beauties of where we live. Or, if you really want to get your heart rate up, you can sign up and train to run a half marathon together!

3. An Escape Room

Being locked in a room for an hour isn't everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s the basic concept of an Escape Room. If you like solving challenges with your friends or partner – this one’s for you. There’s also a new addition to the wide selection of Escape Rooms in London, and it’s Harry Potter themed. You can learn more from the organisers, Enigma Quests, based just off Liverpool Street.

4. Picnic in the park

If you haven’t done this yet, you’re either wishing you had or you think you’re too cool for a picnic. Trust us, nothing is better than sitting outside and enjoying delicious food – and maybe even a few drinks. Grab strawberries and prosecco from the shop and spend a day out in the park, make food yourself or even get takeaway!

5. Wine tasting in Surrey

If you’re able to hop on the train for the weekend, this one’s for you. A romantic weekend away with a wine tasting seems perfect for a special occasion, and even better if it’s closer to home. We're fans of Wotton, a village near Dorking in Surrey, an hour away from Central London by train. The ‘sights’ consist almost exclusively of Wotton House and Denbies Wine Estate, and enough breath-taking views to satisfy the thirst for nature we all have in the modern world.

What are your fun plans for the rest of the summer and where will you take your loved ones?
